5 Inspirational Tips for your Romantic Getaway in Ostend

With the excitement of Christmas and the New Year celebrations long behind us, we’re excited to welcome Springtime and the most romantic month of the year. How will you make this Valentine’s extra special for the person you love? How about a romantic getaway in Ostend, the port & seaside town with so much to offer. We’ve put together some of the most romantic things to do in Ostend to get to know each other better or spend some quality time together.

Enjoy a romantic stroll on the beach

Ostend is well known as a seaside town. While it’s not the right time of year for sunbathing or swimming in the sea (although some brave sea swimmers are out all year round!) a romantic walk along Albert I-Promenade will be a highlight of your romantic trip to Ostend. Wrap up well, grab a hot drink from one of the many coffee shops or bars on the way and enjoy a real breath of fresh sea air with a stroll along the seafront. It’s a great way to spend some quality time together, exploring the local area and stretching your legs.

Dinner & Drinks in Ostend

There is nothing more romantic than dinner and drinks in a cosy restaurant, especially one as highly rated as Le Chevalier. Located 5-minutes’ walk from our hotel, along Albert I-promenade, this pretty restaurant serves many types of cuisine including Belgian, Dutch, Seafood, European, and many vegetarian-friendly options. Being so close to the sea, they specialise in the freshest most delicious seafood. You’ll need to make a reservation as the restaurant’s reputation for great food and service means it’s always busy.

Explore the City Together

Make time to visit The Mercator, a boat which was converted into a maritime museum. Step aboard this mighty ship to uncover her impressive history, learning more about the boat’s many missions, what the crew discovered, its captains and more about Father Damian, the Flemish missionary and apostle of the lepers, who died on the Molokai Island in 1889.

You should also visit The Atlantic Wall, one of two museums at Raversyde consisting of over 60 bunkers, observation posts, positions and a 2-kilometre network of trenches and subterranean corridors. After an intense day of learning, visit the nearby park for a peaceful walk.

Visit a Spa

What could be nicer than a relaxing, pampering day in a spa with the one you love? Visit the beautiful Villa Aqua Spa in the pretty village of Stene where you can completely relax in the different saunas, swimming pools, whirlpool, hammam, sunbathing area and more. They are paired with Ostend City Spa where you can enjoy a range of treatments. Book yourself an invigorating facial treatment, a soothing body massage or a culinary treat in their bistro. It’s a true taste of the good life to share with your other half.
